My daughter loves gummy snacks. These Healthy Fruit Gelatin Gummy Snacks are a healthy alternative to conventional gummy treats. And they are so simple to make you’ll wonder why you haven’t made them yet!
The conventional gummy treats are laden with sugar or sugar substitutes, artificial colors, and flavors; the same applies to the conventional gelatin desserts you find at the grocery stores.
When I make them, my daughter enjoys cutting them using cookie cutters and then, starts devouring the ‘funny shapes’ that are left on the cutting board. Sometimes, I also use molds like this one or this one to give them fancy shapes.
Her friends, also, love them and their parents like the idea that they have a healthy treat. They have become a staple in all of my daughter’s school parties and celebrations!
But they are not only a kid-friendly snack. Grown-ups enjoy them also and they are very beneficial to our overall wellness. Using gelatin from grass-fed beef makes them a nutritious snack with high-quality protein and collagen. The gelatin is a gut healing food and improves digestion, promotes healthy joints, gorgeous skin, thick, lustrous hair and strong nails.
Here are some tips for making these Healthy Fruit Gummy Snacks:
- If you want to cut them using cookie cutters or use a mold, you need to use more gelatin that the typical gelatin dessert container calls for. If you use less, you will not be able to cleanly remove it from the mold or the pan and then cut it into shapes. (Note: if you’re using a square or rectangular baking dish to make your gummy snacks and cutting them into squares, you can get away with using less.)
- Avoid using pineapple, mango or papaya juice. These fruits all contain an enzyme that does not allow the gelatin to set. In some other sites I read that you can use these fruits but you need to boil them before making the snacks – however, I haven’t tried it as my daughter is not a fan of these flavors.
- When you’re heating the juice and gelatin mixture, heat until very warm but not boiling. If the mixture is too hot, it will also affect the gelatin protein and the gummies may not set.
- You may some foam on the top when the mixture gets very hot. If you want, you can just skim the foam off with a spoon before you pour them into the pan or mold.

- 1/2 cup Unflavored Gelatin from grass-fed beef
- 2 cups Fruit Juice, no sugar added (except pineapple, mango or papaya)
- 1 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Raw Honey
Place the fruit juice and water in a small saucepan.
Sprinkle the gelatin over the mixture. Do not stir. Let it rest for about 3 to 4 minutes for the gelatin to bloom.
Place the saucepan over medium heat until it is warm, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth. Do not let it boil.
Add the honey and continue stirring until it is incorporated into the gelatin mixture.
Remove from heat. Pour the mixture into a pan or molds, using a mesh strainer (to remove any clumps – it happens occasionally). (Note: I use a 8” x 12” pan)
Let the pan cool. Transfer the pan (or mold) to the refrigerator until the gelatin is set.
Remove the molds or pan from the refrigerator. Remove the gelatin fruit snacks from the molds.
If you have used a pan for the gelatin to set, use a small silicone spatula or plastic knife to loosen the edge of the gelatin from the pan.
Lift the gelatin from the pan and place it on a cutting board.
Cut the gelatin fruit snacks with a knife or using small cookie cutters.
Store in the refrigerator (fridge) for up to ten days
The number of pieces depends on the size of cookie cutters used. Since I make these mostly for my daughter, I like to use small cookie cutters (about 1 inch).
